Welcome to the Lassen County HSS Website
Welcome to the Health and Social Services (HSS) Agency section of the Lassen County website. The agency is comprised of nine branches with an approximate gross budget of $27 million and 160 dedicated employees. The HSS organization went through many redesigns in the past years with the most recent occurring in September of 2004. The intended purpose of the “super-agency” design is to “enhance timely and effective customer services”. By having the social services under one umbrella we create better opportunities to integrate blended services around the needs of people and their families. The design lends itself to providing quality, timely and seamless service delivery. We constantly ask ourselves how to improve by instituting quality improvement strategies to monitor and seek strategies that provide better customer outcomes. Quality improvement is in our every day practices and also on-going systemic enhancements that involve all the staff members and the people we serve.
We strive to add value to the lives of the people and families served through the HSS Agency. Our contacts with others vary from short term interventions to lifelong relationships that may intensify or fade based on the individuals service needs.
Our management practices include:
• Program driven and fiscally wise
• Mutual respect
• Strength based family based approaches
A central theme for the HSS agency is service integration for people with multiple needs and in particular co-occurring disorders. Any/all new endeavors need to respond on how this intended theme is accomplished. Funding streams are then scrutinized to assure compliance with the allowable cost guidelines for support of the service objectives.
The nine branches include Environmental and Public Health, Veteran Services, Public Guardianship, Adult Protective and In-Home Support Services, Alcohol and Drug Services, Mental Health, Lassen WORKs, and Family and Children Protective Services. Two emerging branches are the Quality I, A, & S (Improvement, Assurance, and Special Projects) and the Advocacy branch.
