The Treasurer/Tax Collector is responsible for the collection and accountability of all secured, unsecured and supplemental property tax, and transient occupancy taxes; responsible for maintaining and reconciling all counts of collections, payment plans on prior delinquent taxes, redemption of tax delinquent property, and public action sales of tax-defaulted property; responsible for the processing of mobile home tax clearances, certificates of liens, summary judgment, subdivision/parcel maps, publications and bankruptcies; responsible for the receipt, recordation, and accounting of all monies paid to the County as well as payment and reconciliation of all checks issues; maintains a portfolio of investments consisting of idle County funds in accordance with the law in a constantly changing market in order to safeguard the funds and maximize the rate of return apportioned to the County general fund and other agencies that use the County Treasurer as a depository.
